Emerging IT has been named as a finalist in the Australian Cyber Awards 2025 for Cyber Security Consulting Business of the Year – SME.
This prestigious national awards program recognises the top-performing businesses and professionals in the cyber security sector, honouring the individuals and teams who are driving innovation and strengthening Australia’s cyber resilience.
The finalist list, announced on Friday, 28 February 2025, features over 200 of Australia’s highest-achieving cyber professionals and businesses across 29 submission-based categories.
Securing a place as a finalist is widely regarded as a significant achievement in the cyber industry, reflecting unwavering dedication and leadership in helping Australian organisations stay protected against a rapidly evolving threat landscape.
Emerging IT’s finalist position is based on the success of our 365 Cloud Secure product — an Australian-built Microsoft 365 breach protection solution designed by our ethical hacking team to detect, contain, and mitigate identity-based attacks, which now account for over 90% of successful Microsoft 365 breaches globally.
As cybercriminals increasingly target Microsoft 365 environments using credential theft, social engineering, and token hijacking, 365 Cloud Secure was engineered to stop attacks before they cause damage, giving businesses a critical line of defence where standard tools often fail.
Nick Kropp, Emerging IT's Cyber Security Team Leader, said the product was created to address the increasing gap in Microsoft 365 security for Australian businesses.
“We built 365 Cloud Secure because we were seeing more and more clients hit by identity-based attacks that traditional Microsoft security tools were missing. Our product goes deeper — detecting suspicious activity and locking down breaches before attackers gain a foothold. It's about staying one step ahead and giving our clients peace of mind in a perilous landscape,” Kropp said.
Emerging IT has rapidly established itself as a leader in the SME cyber security market, offering a full stack of services designed to prevent, detect, and respond to cyber threats, including:
Dean Wilson, Managing Director of Emerging IT, said he was humbled to be recognised as a finalist in such a competitive field and proud of his team’s ongoing efforts to protect Australian organisations.
"Emerging IT’s recognition for our contribution to the cyber security industry reinforces the strength of our all Australian services and our dedication to helping clients navigate a constantly shifting threat landscape. Our team works hard to deliver real business outcomes, and being named a finalist in the Australian Cyber Awards is a testament to that effort,” he said.
Winners will be announced at a black-tie gala event at Illumina, Sydney, on Tuesday, 29 April 2025.
Cyber Daily editor Liam Garman congratulated all finalists, saying:
“Following a challenging 2024, it’s an absolute pleasure to have the opportunity to applaud the cyber security sector’s best and brightest,” Garman said.
“All of our finalists have done an amazing job, not just transforming the industry, but also keeping Australian organisations safe online. I look forward to celebrating with you all on the night.”
